Obituary of Shirley A. Swavely Vandermark
Shirley A. Swavely Vandermark, age 80, of Gillett, PA, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Troy Community Hospital, Troy, PA. She was born November 28, 1935 in Lansdale, PA, a daughter of Herbert and Anna Mary (Heston) Mitchell. Shirley was the wife of the late Walter J. Vandermark who died February 19, 2016. She worked as a seamstress, and for WalMart before retiring. She was a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church; enjoyed camping, rodeos and her dogs.
Shirley is survived by her children, April Dawn Swavely (Joe) of PA, Debra Powlison (Jan) of PA, Richard Swavely (Rose) of PA; step-children, Walter Vandermark, Jr. (Robin) of FL, Author Vandermark (Brenda) of GA, Lisa Giannio (Andy) of NY, Tammy Vandermark of NY; 42 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a dear friend and neighbor, Jamie Ames; her beloved dogs, Sadie and Dolly. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Walter Vandermark, Sr.; brothers, Jesse and Owen Mitchell; step-son, Ronald Vandermark (Mary).
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from Noon to 1:00 P.M. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA with Pastor Mark Conrad officiating.
