Obituary of Edward Harrison Morse
Edward Harrison Morse, age 88, of Troy, PA, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Troy Community Hospital. He was born May 26, 1927 in Troy, a son of Harrison and Julia (Smith) Morse. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Morris) Morse. Ed was raised with his two sisters and two brothers on the same farm that he later owned and operated. He graduated from Troy High School and was the president for the Class of 45'. On the farm, Ed raised Holstein dairy cows and managed 12 acres of apple trees many of which he planted throughout the years. In 1975, with the help of his sister Marilyn Calkins, the Morse Farm received the designation as a Century Farm. Three years later the Farm was awarded the honor of 'Dairy of Distinction'. He was a social member of the V.F.W. in Troy and a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling and was inducted to the Terrace Lanes Bowling Hall of Fame. In his later years, you could still find Ed planting and trimming trees and delivering apples to his many family and friends around the Troy area. He was truly the 'Johnny Appleseed' for the area.
