Obituary of Margaret A. Horton
Margaret Ann (Fuzzy) Horton, 89, of Mansfield PA, passed quietly at the Green Home in Wellsboro on May 4th 2016. Born Margaret Ann Collins on November 26th 1926, in Arnot, PA, she was the youngest daughter of John M. and Josephine V. (Pelarski) Collins. She shared 45 years of marriage to David A. (Scoop) Horton. She was employed at Mansfield University for 66 years and retired in 2014. Margaret was recognized for her service to the university in 2014 when she became the thirteenth person in MU history to be awarded the Mansfield University Medal of Excellence by the President of the University. She was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church.
A past member of the VFW auxiliary, a lifelong member of the Wheel Inn, Margaret was a dedicated family person, devote Catholic and notorious bingo player; she maintained an active social calendar to the end. Margaret was preceded in death by husband David, son, James R. Cooley; two brothers, John J. (Jack) James F. (KIA Normandy France) Mary Watkins. Surviving are grandchildren, Jeff and Raven Cooley and great-grandchildren, Payton Ashley and Garrett James Cooley.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday May 9th at 10:00 AM at Holy Child Catholic Church, Mansfield. Family asks that friends call at an 11:00 AM luncheon to be held in the social hall following the service. A private interment will be held at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Blossburg, PA.
