Obituary of Ann Gilmore
Ann Fritz Gilmore died peacefully on March 20, 2016, at age 93. Born on September 3, 1922, the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. Ann grew up on orchards of apple and peach trees, which her father planted all over Berks, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania. Her lifelong consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables may account for her longevity. Ann was athletic as a girl, playing field hockey and basketball at Schwenksville High School, from which she was graduated in 1940. She was also an avid tennis player. She went to Norristown Business School to learn secretarial skills. She lived most of her life in Springfield, Delaware County, where she reared four daughters. She worked in Norristown for Penn Trust Bank before her children were born and held other secretarial jobs at Pennsylvania Crusher Corporation, Swarthmore College, and Westinghouse Electric Company. Ann loved to sew and excelled at embroidery, especially crewel. She was an outstanding cook and baker, having learned those skills at her mother's knee.
Ann lived a full and rich life that revolved around her family, especially her daughters. She is survived by a sister, Mary Kathryn Fritz; daughters, Ann Elizabeth Williams, Jeanne Carol Fallon, and Gwen Sarah Gilmore; grandchildren Maryanne (Missy), Steven, Greer, Garrett, and Natalie; and great-grandchildren, Colin and Shane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Russell Gilmore, a Pearl Harbor survivor, and her daughter, Mary April Myers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckheit Funeral Chapel, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA, there will be no services. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
