Obituary of Daniel W. Ott
Daniel W. Ott, age 88, of Wellsboro, PA, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. He was born January 26, 1927 in Norristown, PA a son of Daniel and Esther (Wallace) Ott. Daniel was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marlette A. Ott, August 25, 2013. He served in the Army and the Air Force. He was once a clown in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, and was instrumental in saving lives in the great circus fire in Hartford, Conn. on July 6, 1944. He was a volunteer at the Nitch in Whitneyville for many years, enjoyed antiques, collectibles, going to flea markets and was an avid reader.
Daniel is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nicole Ott of Elkins, WV, Peter and Aleksandra Ott of Wellsboro, PA, Stephen and Tanya Ott of Morris, PA; 4 brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Frances Ott of Phoenixville, PA, Collin Ott of St. Peters, PA, Paul Ott of Lancaster, PA, James Ott of Sayre, PA; 5 sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Michael Gich of Maitland, FL, Phyllis Bechtel of Hamburg, PA, Carol Jowder of Birdsboro, PA, Margaret Williams of Reading, PA; Judith Reynolds of Lancaster, PA, 6 grandchildren, Kirsten, Karen, Daniel, Nathan, Evan and Allen. He was predeceased by his wife and 2 sisters, Jean Wilson and Ruth Hogan.
A memorial service will be held at the Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church, 14677 Rte. 6, 5 miles West of Mansfield, PA, on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 3:30 P.M. A dinner will follow. Burial will be in Welsh Settlement Cemetery, Wellsboro, PA at the convenience of the family. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
