Obituary of Doris M. Dewey
Doris M. Dewey, age 88, of Wellsboro, PA, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at home. Doris was the wife of Robert Dewey with whom she observed a 67 wedding anniversary on May 31, 2015. She was born on July 19, 1927 in Genesee, PA, a daughter of James Forrest McConnell and Helen (Judd) McConnell. Doris lived in Coudersport for many years and while there, worked for an Attorney Perry Patterson, and was a clerk for the Tioga County Court House.
Doris loved dancing and was a member of the Canyon Squares. She was a talented artist who drew and painted many pictures, including portraits and rural scenes and animals. She loved to spend time at her camp on the Prouty and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing in northern PA and the eastern shore. Her grace and intelligence was evident to all who knew her, and her children feel especially blessed to have had such a wonder woman for a mother.
Doris is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Beverley Anne Goodman of Saline, MI, Cathy A. (Skip Vanocker) Dewey of Coudersport, PA; two sons, Michael Alan and Lacreticia Dewey of O'Fallon, IL, Fredrick Arthur and Jean Dewey of Covington, PA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Paul McConnell; two sisters, Freda Dutcher and Ruth Shepard.
