Obituary of Russell William Smith

Russell William "Skip" Smith, age 71, of Corning, NY, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Skip was born February 23, 1944 in Tioga, PA, a son of Russell and Beatrice (Heck) Smith. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen A. (Hartman) Smith. Skip was employed by Puralator before his retirement, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Skip is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Barbara Smith of Corning, NY; a daughter, Sonya Ray; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Debbie Smith of Clarksville, TN; 6 sisters, Ann Burrows of Corning, NY, Genevieve Vanderpool of MO, Shirley Sarfin of Madison, WI, Mary Irvin of Lawrenceville, PA, Beatrice "Midge" and Larry Wenger of Hamburg, PA, Rebecca Smith of Tioga, PA; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Smith of Lindley, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Warren and Madeline Smith. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Friday, March 20, 2015 from Noon to 1:00 P.M. at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral chapel on Friday at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Farmington Hill Cemetery.
