Obituary of Frederick W. Schirmer
Frederick W. Schirmer age 86 of Mansfield, PA died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. Frederick was the husband of Gladys M. (Brooks) Schirmer with whom he would have observed a 62nd wedding anniversary on May 5, 2007. Frederick was born on March 27, 1920. He retired from the former Armco after 25 years of service. After his retirement, he was a driver for EMTA for 15 years. Frederick was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, PA. He was a WWII US Army veteran and a member of the Mansfield VFW.
Frederick received the Max Colegrove Citizen of the Year Award in 1988.
Frederick is survived by his wife; Gladys, a daughter and son-in-law; Katherine and Thomas Mazzuchi PhD., four grandchildren; Sara (Joseph) Pranio, Thomas Jr., Joel and Molly Mazzuchi, a brother Carl Schirmer of Long Island, NY, two sisters; Margaret Boyle of Brooklyn, NY, and Katherine Orum of Glenham, NY. A daughter Linda Jean Schirmer in 1965 preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 1, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA and on Friday, March 2, 2007 from 10:30AM to 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Academy St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 11 AM at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com.
