Obituary of Shirley Joyce Johnson
Shirley Joyce Johnson, age 82, of Mansfield, PA, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Shirley was born June 4, 1932 in Nichols, NY, a daughter of Hugh and Lois (Gile) Cole. She was the wife of Kenneth Edward Johnson who passed away in 2002. Shirley was a 2nd grade teacher at Riverside Elementary School in Elmira, NY before her retirement. She enjoyed trips to Tioga Downs in Nichols, NY.
Shirley is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Carolyn Johnson of Baldwin, MD, Gregory and Shari Johnson of Mansfield PA; a sister, Doris Early of Pine City, NY; 2 grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary; a sister-in-law, Marion Cole of Barton, NY; a niece, Michelle Early; 2 nephews, Mark Cole and Johnny (Lisa) Early; and her feline companions, Sophia and Josie. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, and a brother, Willis Cole.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from Noon to 2:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral chapel at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E.
