Obituary of Amador Garrote
Amador Garrote, age 76, of Galeton, PA, died at home, unexpectedly, on Monday, December 22, 2014. Amador was born on February 3, 1938 in Argentina, a son of Santiago and Maria Garrote. He was the husband of Katherine (Smith) Garrote. He worked for PennDot before his retirement. Amador enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the town of Galeton. He was a soccer coach and very active in the community. Amador loved to travel and did so frequently with his many friends.
Armador is survived by his wife, Katherine; son, Michael (Maureen) Garrote of Brazil, daughter, Ada (Alan) Van Derweele of VA, stepdaughters, Lisa (Joe) Kightlinger of Port Allegeny, PA, and Lana (Mark) Beers of Cochranton, PA; stepson, Alan Flynn of Coudersport, PA; 5 grandchildren, Alan and Christopher Van Derweele and Sammy, Sophia, Zack Garrote; 5 step-grandchildren, Jessica Hurrie, Rorie Kightlinger, Katie Jo Kightlinger, Allison Kightlinger and Nora Custead; 6 great grandchildren, Andrew and Addison, Gabrielle and Gavin, Jayden, Mary Kate. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Hugh (Cathy) Smith, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Doud, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Adrian Garrote and a sister, Chona Marquez, and brother-in-law, Roger Smith.
Family and friend to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Bibianas Catholic Church, Germania St., Galeton, PA on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Noon with Rev. Joe Daugherty as Celebrant.
