Ardis L. Baity, 79, of Covington, died Friday, February 16, 2007 in the Wellsboro Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. Born February 1, 1928 in Covington, she was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Patterson) Fessler. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church where she was very dedicated. She was a graduate of Covington H.S. class of 46, and in 1950 graduated from Mansfield Teachers College. She taught primary school in both Towanda and Athens schools as well as in U.S. Marine Corps base schools. For 28 years she lived as a devoted U.S. Marine wife.
Surviving is her son, Richard Baity, of Prattville, AL; three sisters, Miriam Marvin of Wellsboro, Winona Messner of Covington, and Arlene Kuster of Blossburg; a brother Charles Fessler (Jane) of Covington; and several nieces and grand-nieces and nephews and grand-nephews who adored her. Predeceasing her was her husband, Col. Richard (Bud) Baity who died Oct. 1, 1985; brothers, Harry and Francis, parents, Charles and Anna.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Covington Untied Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held immediately after the calling hour at the church with Pastor Sherry Good officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covington United Methodist Church. The Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S.
