Obituary of Richard E. Miles

Richard E. Miles Sr., age 85, of Westfield, PA, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 11, 1929 in Chatham Twp., Tioga County, PA, a son of Lawrence Osgood and Minnie (Zinck) Miles. Richard was the husband of Nancy (Gaerttner) Miles. He worked for Sherwood Logging before he retired, and for Kaminski Lumber Co., Tioga, PA; for Kreger's Coal Mines, and did carpentry work for himself. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, cutting firewood and working on automobiles. Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy; 7 sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Paula Miles of Lindley, NY, Richard Miles, Jr. of Mississippi, Kenny Miles of Mainesburg, PA, Danny and Michele Short of Allenwood, PA, Charles Scott and Nancy Short of Allenwood, PA, Dale Short of Mifflinburg, PA, Lyle Miles of Westfield, PA; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Ann and Daryl Gardner of Jobs Corners, PA, Shelly Gleason of Mississippi, Amber and Chris Kornreich of Youngsville, PA, Tina and George Kratz of Little Marsh, PA; 4 half-brothers, Ronny Costley of Westfield, PA, Leonard and Betty Costley of Lawrenceville, PA, Maynard Costley of Nelson, PA, Leon Costley of Antrim, PA; a half-sister, Cornealia Costley of Wellsboro, PA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rozena Miles Suttle; a brother, Foster Donald Brown; a sister, Laura Clark. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home.
