ROGER THOMAS TRINDELL

Roger Thomas Trindell was born January 2, 1932 to Philip and Frances Trindell.
Following graduation from Madison High School in New Jersey in 1950, he joined the Navy, where he became a Hospital Corpsman, serving at various naval medical facilities in the United States. He also served as medical corpsman with the Fleet Marine Force at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
He graduated in 1957, with a B.A. degree in History and Geography from Montclair State College. He earned a Masters degree in Geography and Field Ecology in 1960 from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He received his PhD in Geography and Anthropology from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. His academic career took him from coast to coast teaching in California, New York State, Pennsylvania, including, Michigan State University in East Lansing. He joined the faculty of Mansfield State College in 1970 as the Chair of the Department of Geography, Geology, and Regional Planning.
He retired in 1993 and spent his winters at Jekyll Island, Georgia.
He was an avid golfer beginning his career as a caddy at Baltursol Golf Club and continuing playing his entire life. He loved every aspect of the game from club making to shot making. He was proud of his club championships at Corey Creek Golf Club and Tyoga Country Club and his induction into the Tioga Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Danice Jean (Livenspire) Trindell, son, Gene Roger Trindell, and daughter-in-law Paula. He is also survived by his granddaughters Sarah and Katherine who were very precious to him.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 18, 2007 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Deborah Casey officiating.
