Obituary of Eugene H Drinkwine

Eugene H. Drinkwine, 72, of Cherry Flats, died Friday, September 19, 2014 in Blossburg, PA surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fulton, NY, June 29, 1942, Gene was a son of Merrill and Louise (Curry) Drinkwine. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Ann (Latter) Drinkwine on November 14, 2012. He was a licensed Funeral Director since 1968. He and Carolyn were owners of the former Drinkwine Funeral Home in Blossburg for many years, and more recently was a Funeral Director at Sanders Mortuary in Williamsport, and assisted for many years at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. He was a 44 year member of the Avoca Lodge #673, F&AM, Avoca, NY. Gene had served on the Southern Tioga School Board, the Blossburg Fire Dept. as President and an EMT, and Chief of the Ambulance Assoc. He was a member of the Pennsylvania and Central Penn Funeral Directors Associations; former Covington IOOF, and former Blossburg and Area Lions Club. He was currently employed by Hilfiger Transportation and enjoyed the kids on Bus 11. Gene was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and rider; enjoyed his family and grandchildren; attending his grandchildren's sporting events and woodworking. Gene is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Dave Mahonski of Blossburg, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Rebecca Drinkwine of Weedsport, NY; a sister, Barbara (Jack) Horn of Big Flats, NY; grandchildren, Erika, Nicholas, Rachel and Nathan Mahonski; great granddaughter, Skyleigh; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Jackie (Latter) Pickett of Newport, RI; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Michelle Somerville officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Morris Run, PA.
