Obituary of Isabelle J. Gitchell
Isabelle J. Gitchell, age 90, of Wellsboro, PA, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Isabelle was born July 26, 1923 in Shippen Twp., a daughter of Harry and Mabel (Kennedy) Jones. She was the widow of Raymond W. Gitchell who died March 19, 1981. Isabelle worked at the Dept. of Transportation in Wellsboro as a personnel clerk before her retirement. She was a member of the Middle Ridge United Methodist Church, the Wellsboro Chapter of the DAR, and a life member of the Tioga County Historical Society. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader.
Isabelle is survived by a son, Scott Gitchell of Wellsboro, PA; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Rae and William Baker of Hilton, NY, Jill Brucklacher of Santa Clara, CA, and Carol and Tom Smith of FL; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond; 2 sisters, Clara Lawton and Lucille Sherman; 1 brother, Phillip Kennedy Jones.
Services will be private. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery, Wellsboro, PA.
