Obituary of Rieta P. Boyden
Rieta Pauline Boyden, 69, of Mainesburg,passed away on December 11, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 4, 1944 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Shirley and Elva Baker. She married William Charles Boyden on October 24, 1977 and he survives. Also surviving are her mother, Elva (Peg) Maines of Mainesburg, two daughters, Robin (Scott) Kent of Mainesburg, and Billie Sue Atkinson of Morris Run; one granddaughter, Jessica Kent (Christopher) Moore; three grandsons, Michael Kent, Joseph Heater and David Mascho; one great grandson, Christian Moore; one brother, Duane Baker; one sister, Helen Bowes; one aunt, Helen Hamblin and one uncle, Franklin Owlett; three nieces, Felicia (Michael) Allen,Terri Downs and Sabrina (Jason) Knox and two nephews, Jeremiah and Jonathon Bowes. Rieta?s father, one son, David Cory DeKay and three brothers, Barry Baker,Randy Baker and Kevin Baker preceded her in death.
She attended Williamson High School and worked as a dispatcher for North Penn Telephone Company. Rieta was later employed in the Custodial Department at Mansfield University for many years and served as the tax collector for Sullivan Twp. She loved to cook and enjoyed serving many family and friends around her table. Rieta loved to garden, camp and travel. One of Rieta's most notable hobbies was her study of genealogy. She loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ with her whole heart as evidenced by her life-long dedication to serving others through caring for the sick and the needs. She was a member of the State Road Baptist Church and was also active at the Bakerburg Community Church. Rieta's missions included a seat on the Board of the Baptist Women's Association and its White Cross branch; she was active in the Philanthropic Educational Organization and served as a committee member there. She also participated in the Franklin Grahams Shoebox ministry.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 3:00 PM at the funeral chapel with Pastor Dave Dressler officiating. Donations may be made in Rieta's memory to Rainbow Acres, a home for the developmentally disabled in Arizona's Verde Valley by contacting Chris Roush, Rainbow Acres Vice President for Advancement and Church Relations, at chris@rainbowacres.com or Rainbow Acres, 2120 W.
