Obituary of Dolores Jackson

Dolores Ann Bennett Jackson, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2024. She was born December 20, 1932 and raised in Wyalusing by her parents Melvin Augustus "Gus" and Bessie P. (Acla) Bennett alongside of her three sisters; Marion Dickes (d), Betty Welles and Linda Atkins. She and her husband Richard Jackson met as teenagers at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church. Richard tended the furnace at the church, and Dolores was the organist. They moved their young family to Mansfield in 1959, where they resided until 2022. She worked at the Mansfield A&P and the Tri County Rural Electric for several years while raising her children. Dolores was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest enjoyment came from caring for her immediate family and friends. She created many wonderful memories for everyone who knew her, including the countless musical memories she made for her family. Dolores was an accomplished musician. She was chosen for the high school state orchestra and state chorus. She attended Ithaca College and later Mansfield University and majored in music with piano the instrument of choice. She played the organ and sang in the choir for the Wyalusing and Mansfield Methodist Churches for years. She taught piano lessons to dozens of aspiring players from her Mansfield home. Dolores was a member of the United Methodist church for more than 50 years. She served on the United Methodist Women's Visitation Committee, was a member of Eastern Star (Worthy Matron of Mansfield, PA) Twilight Chapter and also the Literary Club and Garden Club. Her most enjoyment came from her immediate family and friends, tending flower beds, fishing and of course creating music. Dolores is survived by her three children, Douglas (Claudia Spencer), Judy (Kevin Beckman (d)) and Richard. She has ten grandchildren; Douglas's; Douglas (Kim) Jackson, Jonathan, (Angela) Jackson and Joshua (Megan) Jackson, Judy's; Richard Beckman (Margaret) and Jessicah Beckman (Mark) Richard's; Krista (Nicholas) Greenfield, Megan (Michael) Kitchen, Madeline (Cody) Horn, Aaron Jackson and Zachary Jackson. The thirteen great-grandchildren include: Amber, Spencer, Boston, Landon, Matilda, Lacy, Colton, Rowan, Theo, Jett, Lorelei, Alaina and Jackson. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Methodist Church, 67 E. Wellsboro St. Mansfield, PA. A time for gathering will occur at 10:00 prior to the funeral services at 11:00. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will take place at the Wyalusing cemetery in Wyalusing PA. Funeral services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S.
